When I was emailed by Zeamu Music asking if Spud would like to review their new album, a quick preview of their song left me wanting to know and hear more, I snapped up the offer and waited for the new album to arrive. Zeamu Music is a new record label that’s been launched specifically for children aged 4 to 11 by a collective made up of some of the music industry’s hottest producers, musicians and composers.
As parents themselves, the founders of Zeamu Music couldn't find any music specifically made for kids. There is music for babies and toddlers and then mainstream pop - but nothing for the little folk in between. Therefore, they decided to create some really great, origina pop tunes for kids that they could feel cool listening to, that had lyrics about topics they think and care about and that their parents wouldn't mind listening to! It was also important that the songs be sung by kids, making it even more relevant to children.
Spud had his PlayStation on when the parcel had arrived, and as I was in the middle of washing up, he simply played the album via his PlayStation. Standing at the kitchen sink, I found myself moving along to the sound of the music, and once I'd finished washing up, I'd ask Spud to bring the CD to the living room so we could play it through the sound system.
As a cautious parent, I don't like my son listening to pop, it always seems to be about boy or girl dilemmas, break ups, love, or social scenes, do not even get me started on the video, some of those are so raunchy, I don't even know why they are played before the water shed on the music channels. With Zeamu Music, I can let Spud play the CD without the fear or worry of what he may be hearing. What 7 year old need's to know about adult situations and falling in and out of love?
The Zeamu Music CD album has 14 songs on it, which are all child proof and not destructive, the album comes with a lyric book meaning your child can become a little karaoke star and sing along with the songs. The CD is positive for children and on that subject very child friendly. Both me and Spud enjoy the CD, and its one of a few that I don't mind him having on constantly.
