University students all over the UK are celebrating the end of year with results, parties and new adventures. Whilst uni lectures are out for summer, many students are unaware that student discounts still remain as long as you have a valid student ID card!

This post is about showing students how to make the most out of their student ID card, and get the best deals and discounts around! From cheaper dinners to cheaper days out, from cheaper movie tickets to cheaper travel expenses, from cheaper fashion to cheaper entertainment, this post will hopefully help you make the most of your student discount!

Being a student sadly isn't something that comes for free, so try to ease the student debt by saving with these tips below!

Step One: Search, Search and Search!
Not everyone advertises their student discount/discounts, so look around the company's website you're interested in or give them a call to see if they have deals/discounts for students!! Searching for specific search terms can also be a great help, for example doing a search for student bus pass will bring up results for discounted bus fare rates!

Step Two: Always Carry Your Student ID With You!
Being in a shop that offers student discount is great when you're a student, but it's not great when you've not got your ID card to prove it! Anyone can say they're a student to grab a discount, and of course companies aren't going to have that. Make sure you have your student ID with you wherever you go, you never know when its going to be needed!

Step Three: Subscribe, Subscribe, Subscribe!
A lot of companies offer student deals every now and again, but the only problem is, they will only let you know of these discounts if you subscribe to a service they offer. Most of the time its in terms of a newsletter, so for the sake of having a newsletter delivered to your inbox once a month, it can be worthwhile with the discount on offer!

Step Four: Don't Forget To Cancel Your TV License!
If you're moving out of student accommodation and won't be using your TV license for the last three months of your license cover, then it may be worth checking the TV Licensing website to find out if you're eligible for a refund for the time remaining on their website. It's always worth remembering that the student should buy their TV Licence as early in the year as possible. In doing so, they are more likely to have three months in a row or more left on their licence at the end of the year. If this is the case, the student is more likely to be eligible for a refund.

Step Five: Make Sure YOU'RE Saving Money!
Don't be fooled by every student discount you see, sometimes they really aren't worth the hassle of showing your ID card! For example Domino's may offer you a 25% discount, and Pizza Hut a 20% discount, if you're trying to save money, naturally you may go for the higher discount (Domino's), but their meals may cost a lot more than their competitor offering less discount!

If you have any other student summer money saving tips, please do leave a comment below!

The first pregnancy can be a strange but wonderful experience to go through, I say strange because a lot of what I can remember from my early pregnancy day's is lots of people telling me how painful childbirth is. Every time I listened to someone tell me what so many had done, my body jumped back to the 11 year old secondary school pupil I once was, having a sex education class and hearing the teacher tell all of us girls (I went to a all girls school) how giving birth was like pushing out a watermelon.

Of course I soon realised it was a scare tactic, but it actually does feel like that. What no one did tell me though was the good parts of pregnancy, like how amazing your hair and skin is! My hair during pregnancy was the best my hair has ever been, there's no product on the market that can give your hair that feel and look, just pregnancy!

Along with not telling me about the good parts of pregnancy, no one told me about the other side effects, like the cravings, morning sickness, heartburn and fainting sessions (I must admit it's rare, I fainted three times - down to low blood pressure!), the uncomfortable night sleeps as your pregnancy progressed and the amount of times you'd need to empty your bladder!

Of course the pregnancy is soon over, and labour was worth every single second of pain, nothing comes for free, and with the pain you experience you're gifted the best gift in the world - your child (or children if you've had a multiple birth!), your heart opens a new heart inside that you didn't even knew existed! You'll even stop hating your partner for getting you into that situation, well I did with Spud's dad aha!

The sickness goes, the heartburn goes and so does the cravings, the sleepless nights remain, however they're not uncomfortable but just sleepless because of baby, and the emptying your bladder situation can get a lot worse, something I wasn't aware of until I spoke to my doctor four months after giving birth to Spud.

Ten years down the line I'm still suffering with incontinence, but as I've got older, I've realised that there shouldn't be a taboo surrounding the subject. We shouldn't be afraid to talk to our doctors about the issue, and we shouldn't feel alone and embarrassed. According to the company that I've been purchasing incontinence pads from for the last few years (after having my doctor's recommendation) , one in every 4-5 people in the UK have incontinence issues - both male and female, of all ages!

I must admit before I visited my doctor three years ago to discuss ways to help myself after a bad incontinence period, I was purchasing pads from the supermarket, which wasn't even for incontinence but for monthly periods, buying pads with my weekly food shop just wasn't something I was comfortable in doing, and still aren't.

What I like about buying online is the fact that no one knows I've ordered the products and no one knows I wear them on the rare occasion when I need to. I also like the fact that with the Hartmann, thanks to an online tool of theirs, I know which products are best for me after answering just a few simple questions! Their online FAQs section is also very useful, it's full of questions and answers, helping putting everyone with incontinence whether bladder or bowel at ease!

Of course, now everyone knows my secret, but I KNOW I'm not alone! Incontinence shouldn't be a hushed subject, it shouldn't be a taboo that no one wants to talk about, and no one should feel alone and embarrassed. If you believe you have bladder or bowel incontinence, I'd suggest visiting a doctor who can help with a diagnosis. Doctors are there to help and you should get problems checked out to rule out any serious health problems.

I am one of the 14 million people in the UK (source: Bladder and Bowel Foundation) who have this issue, I am breaking the taboo today.

Holidays, they shouldn't be stressful but we all know the lead up and planning to them can be just that - stressful. After the stress of last year's holiday, I vowed that this years summer holiday will be less stressful, but with making the right plans, I've actually found a way to book and plan a holiday without ANY stress whatsoever, and I'm about to share it with all of you here with my top tips.

Step One: Do Your Research Prior To Booking, and Not After Booking!
I booked a holiday for me and Spud once without doing my proper research, I'd heard from one friend about how lovely the area was, so booked it as a spur of the moment. With two weeks to go until the booked holiday, I started researching the area and what there was to do with children, I'd wish I'd of done this before booking as sadly the area wasn't very child friendly, and catered for older couples mainly. Now before booking a holiday, I thoroughly do my research and make sure it's the right destination for us.

Step Two: Take As Much Hassle Out Of The Holiday As You Can.
You're going abroad and you've heard stories of people losing their luggage or their luggage arriving well after they have, it's no good, it shouldn't happen but it does. I'm a natural born worrier, so these things frighten me, especially as I have to carry a few important things around for Spud like his ear defenders, loosing luggage isn't something I'm prepared for, so for this years family summer holiday I've booked in with Send My Bag, a company who does what airlines should be doing, only they're more reliable and affordable, it's a win win all round!

Spud on one of our holiday's.

Step Three: Shop Around For The Best Currency Deals.
Going on holiday is an exciting prospect, and many of us want to exchange our money straight away to stop ourselves spending. Whilst this isn't an entirely bad thing, you could be losing out on currency by changing your money in a rush. The rate of currency often changes daily, so I'd suggest not only shopping around for the best deals, but to check out the different currencies on offer on a daily basis. If you see a currency at its lowest in four days, I'd snap it up, because it could soon rise to the highest it's been. Thats the only problem with waiting around, but most of the time it's worth it!

Step Four: Plan Ahead and Not On The Day.
Going on holiday should be relaxing, but what do you do if you've got nothing to do and can't stand another day at the beach or by the pool? Contact your travel agent or hotel and ask them if they accept advanced bookings for activities around the area. I'd also suggest booking in any meals you'd like to have at the hotel to avoid disappointment, that way, if you can't get a booking, you have the time to find alternative places to eat.

Spud enjoying the pool!

Step Five: Spend Less At Home, and More On Holiday.
No one wants to put money away for a holiday but have to dip into it before the holiday starts, but sometimes its important. Look around for the best insurance deals around, and try to find the cheapest airport parking available, if you don't intend to drive then call around local taxi firms for the best quote. Do your research and find ways on how to save holiday money, after all you want to spend the money on your holiday and not before it!

Finally, relax and enjoy yourself! If you plan ahead as much as you can, your holiday should go smoothly! I have a holiday booked for the summer holidays and all I need to do is exchange our money to currency! I have everything from lunch and dinners sorted, to what we're doing each day and evening, planning ahead isn't half as stressful as planning whilst you're away, it gives you more time to enjoy your holiday and really does take the stress away!

My Garden Reveal!

by Jada, June 29, 2016
Moving into the house was a dream come true for Spud, my darling son who wished to have what so many of his school friends and family had, a garden to call their own, a garden where he could play football, splash in a pool, swing on a swing, run around with his puppy dog, and make memories that'll last a lifetime.

I must admit, I come to this house with my eyes closed, just shocked that we'd even ended up with a house, I missed all of the work that needed not only doing to the house, but the front and back garden also. We've been blessed with not only having a garden, after being stuck in a flat for so many years, but we've been blessed with the most amazing very large garden that has lots, and I mean lots of potential.

With a big garden, comes lots of work, which sadly takes time, and time I've just not had recently with my health issues, the end of the school year and what more. However, with the summer holidays fast approaching where Spud will have six weeks off school, I think it's time I start getting my act together and get this garden sorted, everything from the fences to the once stood flower bed needs sorting, but I aim to do it one step at a time.

As you can see from the image above, the flower bed has badly outgrown, to the point where you can barely see any earth! I did start to try and sort it out a few weeks ago, hence why the spade is there, but to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing, so I'm going to wait until my dad is free so he can advise me on what's best. I wait for my dad as I dug up (or so I thought) this very same flowerbed last year, and everything has just grown back through, so this time I want to get it done properly.

The whole garden needs a good cut, it's not been done for about three weeks as my lawn mower broke on me ahead of a family bbq! Luckily my neighbours come to the rescue and let me borrow theirs, although that's not a long term solution! I'm thinking of getting a new lawn mower, but I must admit I've just been looking at the style (why isn't their a pink lawn mower!?), and not the product themselves! I want something different to the lawn mower I had before as it couldn't cope with my garden, so I need something new, like these lawn mowers, although sadly none of them come in pink!

It seems as though previous tenants over the years not only neglected the flowerbed, but also the fence panels too! In total I need 31 fence panels in my garden, and I only have nine, that's a lot of fence panels and fence post that need to be purchased, and I'm dreading to think of how long it will take along with all the hard work that's going to be needed. The previous tenants have at some point put down large pieces of wood as you can see in the image above, but its not the best when you have children and a dog!

The majority of my garden is grass based, however I do have a patio area, but sadly it's covered in weeds! Actually I'm not even sure what these are, can you tell I never paid an interest in the gardening when I lived at home with my parents!? What I do know is everytime I pull/chop/cut down these things, they always grow back and my patio is covered, so I need to sort these out, or lay a new patio which they can't get through! Is that even possible!?

Once the garden is complete, I hope to be able to keep on top of things, even if I hire a gardener/handyman once a month or so. I want Spud to grow up with a memory full of garden fun (amongst other memories), just like I had as a child, and growing up into an adult with the memories I have today. Last month, I asked Gareth to cement a little area for me, where we all left our handprints, minus the dog who left his paw print, it's my very own special piece of the garden, and will be one of my favourite area's forever.

Sometimes we all find ourselves in situations we never thought we'd be in, and all too often it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, the silver lining on the cloud, that the situation will get better, that the greater the storm the brighter the rainbow, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass - but learning to dance in the rain and all the rest.

In that instant, it's most likely that you can't see a way out, you're sure you want the world to swallow you up, or you want to run away from everything, it's easily thought about isn't it? I promise you that things DO get better, but I strongly believe that we're the biggest helpers to ourselves.

Take a relationship breakdown for example, if the relationship was controlling, unloyal and abusive, but you loved your partner and tried to change them to be a better person, will there be light at the end of the tunnel? On that particular relationship I highly doubt it, but that doesn't mean you should give up on relationships altogether. I've had two failed relationships prior to meeting Gareth, and now I'm happily engaged - due to be someone's wife, things really do get better.

Take the unhappy working role, quitting isn't an option but you're unhappy with your job, it's affecting not only your work life, but your non work life too. You look for jobs in the same criteria and fail to find anything suitable, just DON'T give up, there may not be anything within that certain hour, but an hour later someone could post the ideal recruiting post for you. So in this instance, we mustn't give up straight away, instead we try to ride the storm, and see the rainbow at the end.

Another worry that many of us find ourselves in is money problems, I've lost count at the amount of money worries I've had since October last year, and right now I'm going through a difficult financial period. Making money quickly and easily isn't always possible, but we urgently need money, so what do we do? Most of us try to ask family and friend members to help us with those crucial bills first, before we raid the piggy banks filled with coppers and other small loose change.

We continually search the web on ways to make money, and most of the time, scams pop up letting us know how we can make money from the comfort of our own home, but first we need to give our card details over and pay a deposit. Paying for something when you've got no money is not an option, plus they're usually scams, so stay well clear of these sort of money making schemes.

Instead, join as many local buying and selling sites on social media as you can, go around the house and look for items that are not needed or used any more. For example, I have a electronic cheese grater, but it's so much hassle to take out of the cupboard, plug in and clean that it's easier for me to use the manual grater, I'd pop it on my local selling site for £5 and state collection only making sure I'm not wasting any money on petrol or public transport cost.

Me and Spud have a sort out every now and again, usually when one of the new Disney Infinity or Skylander games are coming out, he'll sort through any toys that are in a good condition and ask me to sell them for him, once he made over £100 just from the buy and sale sites. Another way to make money by selling your old goods is via a boot sale and online auction sites, but they're not free to enter and use, and you need to make money - not lose it!

If things are really that bad, and you can't see no way out, then think positive and tell yourself everything is going to be okay. I'd never recommended getting a loan, but I understand sometimes it's the only way to get out of a financial issue quickly and easy. If you do go down this route make sure you find one that's best for you, and read up on APR explained to give you a better insight on what kind of interest you'll be paying back.

If you're in a situation where you need to pay a bill and don't have the full amount, or any amount even, ring up the company who's sent the bill and ask for a little bit longer to pay the bill. As long as you make contact, most companies are happy to give you that little bit of extra time.

If the situation you're in is because you have no money to buy food, check out the local food banks to see how you can be referred. Alternatively, you can ask family members for a few items each to get you through the difficult period, you can make very cheap and hearty meals for a very affordable budget, things like tuna pasta bake, spaghetti bolognese and shepherds pie are hearty yet affordable.

If the situation is an ongoing problem, I suggest you make an appointment to see an adviser at your local Citizen Advice Bureau, they can help you with addressing debtors, as well as helping you with payment plans and arrears.

Remember, you may not see the light at the end of the tunnel straight away, but it's there, maybe a few more miles away then what you thought, but it's ALWAYS there!

Never one to be in denial, I knew whilst waiting in the waiting room at my doctors surgery that I had put on weight, I was waiting for the nurse to call me in for my asthma check up or review as they like to call them nowadays. I'd prepared myself for the questions and 'advice' that was to come, but must admit I was shocked at the true amount I'd put on, choosing to avoid the scales at home and with my contraception nurse.

Between 2011 and now (2016), I've put on five stone, not five pounds, but five stone, that's 70 pounds, that's disgusting (because it's not medical!) and unbelievable poop right there! I can't bear to tell the world how much I weigh, but I do hope to be here in the near future saying how much I did weigh, and how much I've lost since writing this very post.

Truth be told, every time I speak about losing weight, I somehow put weight on, it's like my fat inner is like ooh you're going on a diet, well make sure you fit in as many chocolate brownies and vanilla milkshakes as you can. Then I struggle, and I mean I really badly STRUGGLE to lose the weight that I've put on in the last few days, let alone the last few years.

It's the whole 'diet' thing, where did diet even come from? Break that word down and it's di - et or die-t that doesn't make sense to me, why do we call them diets? Why not something else!?

It's also the MONEY that comes with dieting, sure you can get help and advice online for free but when it really comes down to it, it's a LOT of money, and I think in my mind, why would I spend this much money on a exercise class when a box of chocolates is nicer cheaper and makes me feel better!? Not that I've ever swapped a box of chocs for an exercise class, but trust me - the feeling is there all the time. Surely I'm not the only one who wants to lose weight and save money? Not lose weight and spend more money!?

I don't understand how a bag of bananas is more expensive than a bag of crisps or packet of cookies, when you're broke and on the breadline, what are you going to do? Get the cheaper version of bread which is the basic white bread!? Or go for the healthier bread, the di-et/die-t bread, the whole grain, fat free version? Erm no, just no.

I'm out here to lose weight, not money.

So you got to improvise, Charlotte Crosby's exercise DVD looks amazing, you go girl! However so does the pound dvd that I found in my local charity shop with unknown people on the front cover! It saved me a few pounds in money, and helped me lose a few pounds in weight, the way things should be right!?

Of course nothing comes for free - or so they say, but what if some things we're free? Sure it may take you some time, time you most probably don't have, but it's saving you £££, money towards that new outfit you're dying to fit into! You know the outfit you purchased three years ago telling yourself it will be the outfit that spurs you on in your goal.

Whilst I've not been able to find someone willing to give me free gym classes, I have found some excellent resources online for free, and after amazingly losing four pounds without taking any exercise classes and everyone asking me how I've done it, I thought I'd share some of my not best kept secrets here, I really can't be bothered to copy and paste to person after person, and besides, at least more than just my Facebook buddies will benefit from a blog post!

Tip One: Meal Planner Cards
These particular meal planner cards were created by whey protein suppliers Discount Supplements, and are just one of many that I've been using recently. Simply select an item from each row to create a nutritious and healthy smoothy, other cards include vegan and vegetarian options. If these cards don't tickle your fancy, why not have a go at making your own?

Tip Two: Plaster Your Kitchen
Don't literally go and call the nearest plastering firm in the Yellow Pages, because I'm not talking about that kind of plaster. Plastering my kitchen cupboards and fridge freezer with old pictures of my slimmer self has been helping me in a way of not opening the doors to reach for food. I'm not going to lie, it doesn't look very nice with random photo's blu tacked onto every cupboard containing food, but it helps in reminding yourself of the goal.

Tip Three: Reward Yourself.
Rewarding yourself is a very important part of the di-et/die-t, and who doesn't like to be rewarded? However, DON'T reward yourself with your favourite chocolate bar (mines a Milky Way Duo - what's yours!?), but instead treat yourself to a new book, a new CD, a new lipstick, bra, top etc. Don't reward yourself with the food you miss and crave, instead treat yourself with that, tip four below!

Tip Four: Treat Yourself.
Being on a diet (I'm actually not going to call it that anymore, I'm going to call it a weight journey as the more I see the word the more I get angry with it!) doesn't mean you can't eat your favourite fatty foods anymore, but it does mean you need to cut them out of your diet as much as you can. Once a month I plan to have a Milky Bar Duo as a treat to myself, not as a reward (step three) but simply as a treat! It's important to not get the two confused, a reward shouldn't be food, but a treat can be.

Tip Five: Work Hard, Play Harder and DON'T Give Up!
I'm a fine one to say the ending of the above line aren't I? However it's giving up time after time that has led me to this writing this post. I give up way too easily, and after a holiday I have planned in the summer holidays, it's time to get serious, otherwise I'll just get bigger and bigger, and more upset and disappointed with myself. I'm not happy with myself, but I know ONLY I can change that!

Do you have any tips to share that don't involve money? Please do leave me any of your 'free' tips below, I have over five stone to lose!
