As another miserable day made its way into Reading this morning, me and Spud decided to make some cookies, from scratch for our first ever time! Usually, we admittingly just buy and use packet mixtures, however, not wanting to step outside in fear of us getting soaked from a potential downfall of rain, we looked at what baking ingredients we had in the house, and decided to make some cookies!
Every kitchen needs their baking essentials to be able to bake, and luckily I'm not far from having them all! To make cookies, you don't need too much thankfully! All we needed was a wooden spoon, a rolling pin, some kitchen scales, bowls for the ingredients and a mixing bowl, oh and of course the kitchen worktop to roll the cookies out on!
The Ingredients:
100g baking butter.
50g caster sugar.
5g caster sugar to finish.
160g plain flour.
Chocolate chips.
The method was really easy! First of all we mixed all the ingredients together in the mixing bowl, in no particular order! We then decided to add some milk chocolate chips to our mix to make chocolate chip cookies, but of course you can bake plain cookies if you prefer to!
Once all the ingredients was mixed together, we sprinkled flour onto our clean kitchen worktop and rolled the ingredients out using our rolling pin. We then picked a cookie cutter out to make the shape of our cookies, Spud wanted star cookies so we went with our star cutter! You of course can make whatever shaped cookies you desire!
Once the ingredients was all mixed together, we baked them in the oven for 12 minutes on a heat of 180 in our electric oven! Then we placed the cookies onto a cooking rack and waited for them to cool!
The last bit is obviously the best bit! Once the cookies was cooled, it was time to enjoy a cookie each! Jezeppi our puppy sadly couldn't enjoy the cookies with us, but it didn't stop him trying as he stared at us with puppy dog eyes trying to get a piece of the action!
Rainy days don't have to be miserable, they can be as fun as you want them to be!
Until next time,
Jada x
