The Mummy Tag

by Jada, February 18, 2014
Receiving a message from Helen from Mummy to the Max this evening informing me I had been tagged, led me to a post full of interesting facts, its called 'The Mummy Tag'.  After reading Helen's post, and smiling along to her loving answer's I agreed to accept the tag. So here goes, here's a little bit about me and Spud!

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum, or a Working Mum?
Well I actually fit into both of those categories, I am a working mum who works from home, so where does that put me? Smack bang in the middle - 50.00% maybe?

2. Would you have it any other way?
No, I have worked on and off for a few companies and retailers before, fortunately at them times, Spud was younger and cared for the majority of the time by family and extremely close friends. Spud also attended three private nurseries whilst I continued to study and worked, I hated being away from him. Now I get to work from home, working the hours that I choose, along with the days and times. I am the one who gives Spud his breakfast, lunch and dinner, the one who gives him his morning wash and his evening bath, I am the one who wakes up with him and goes to sleep with him, I am the one who takes him to school and who also collects him too. I love the way it works out for the both of us!

3. Do you co-sleep?
Not much any more but we did for the first 5-6 years of Spud's life. I openly admit I have attachment parenting, and cant stand to be away from Spud for too long - but how long is too long? When Spud would be in his own bedroom, I would panic, suffer with panic attacks and would end up surviving on minimum hours of sleep. I lost count of the number of times I slept on the hard floor, covered with just one layer of carpet in his room, just so I was close. I still panic loads now when he is in his own room!

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Well Spud's not a baby no more but it was and still is baby wipes, they truly are a mothers best friend!  You will always find a packet of wet-wipes in my bag and a few packets at home! I still buy a box of six, just like I did when he was a baby!

5. How many kids do you plan on having?
One! I have Spud who will be eight next month (how scary!), we have such a strong bond, I don't think I could break that with another baby. I always focused on gaining more for myself and Spud, so I continued higher education at college, and even planned to go uni - only for that to fall through at the last minute! I wanted to gain good qualifications and ensure a good job for the both of us. Having another baby whilst I was studying and on benefits would of been selfish of me. People accuse me of being selfish for not giving Spud a sibling, Spud does not want a sibling, I sometimes joke around with him and say I am having another baby and he gets so upset and angry, he's fine as a only child with all the love, attention and toys he will ever need!

6. Date night? How many nights per month?
Once every 4-8 weeks, to be fair, my Mum use to have Spud quite a lot before she moved to Cornwall, at least once a month, sometimes just for me to have a decent nights sleep. Now I can only ask my Dad or my sister, and my sister is just the same, she will only ask me or our Dad. Seeing as I am single, it's date nights with the girls, and most of the time we end up staying in at mine watching a few horrors with a takeaway and a game of Monopoly! Face-mask and chocolate too of course!

7. Your childs favourite show?
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, followed by Littlest Pet Shop, Garfield and then Horrid Henry!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
Muslin bibs? I never understood them and still don't now! Bibs all the way for me!

9. Your child’s favourite food?
Mango and Lasagne! I'm lucky with Spud because he likes all fruit and veg, like any other child though he is a fan of a sweet treat every now and again!

10. How many cars does your family have?
About a 1009, they're scattered in the toy corner, in Spud's bedroom and in his playroom!

Ohh you meant the real cars didn't you!? NONE!

11. Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after and now?
Luckily I didn't actually change in my pregnancy until I was 5 month's pregnant with Spud, after I ballooned, then lost and now I'm at my biggest :(

12. Dream holiday with your kids?
Disney Land - Spud and I are both huge, HUGE, Disney fans <3.
I'm actually trying to save up to get us there at some point this year! We are just waiting for his operation dates to come through before we can book anything!

13. Dream holiday without your kids?
I couldn't holiday without my prince, I'd be having nightmares, not dreaming!

14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
It's been the best adventure ever, and luckily a never ending one too! I got into trouble with the law a few times before I had Spud, disobeyed and argued with almost everyone stupidly. Having Spud showed me a new aspect to life, a new meaning and a love that is unconditional. My love for his has no beginning and has no end, he is my son, but also my best friend. I could not imagine sharing my life with anyone else, we have such a unbreakable bond! Spud was my little premature baby, who fought & battled, proved the medics wrong and generally continued to amaze not only me, but his daddy and the rest of our family too! He is my fighter baby!

15. Finish the sentence: 'It makes my heart melt to see …
How far Spud has come along, how well he has done considering we was told he would not do so much of the things he does do! Also when he tells me how much he loves me!

16. Where do you shop for your kids?
Next, Joules, H&M, Debenhams, The Disney Store, Office, JD Sports, Marks & Spencer, Sainsburys (TU), Morrisons (Nutmeg) and Asda (George).

17. Favourite makeup and skincare products?
I love a peel off face mask, I love to just put one on and lay down for 10 minutes, cucumber on the eyes and a sneaky cube of Galaxy for comfort! I don't wear make up much any more, I suppose you could say I've let myself go but I'd much rather prefer the extra time in bed then doing the full shahbam of dolling my face up!

18. Huggies or Pampers?
I was lucky to use both with Spud, I preferred Huggies just because the Disney characters! Spud was so tiny and small due to him being born weighing a very small 4lb, so Pampers tended to fall off of him where as Huggies gave a much more smug fit!

19. Have you always wanted kids?
Yes and lots of them too! Once Spud was born though, I think I knew from that moment it would just be him, I lost my heart that day, for every bit of love filled within it, was given to my precious boy. Becoming a parent is the most amazing and proudest achievement of my life, I get praised for charity events, education, skills, jobs, and most proudly - being a young mother that's so much unlike the rest!

20. Best part about being a mum?
Knowing, that no matter who will come and go in my lifetime, I will always have my baby boy! Hearing him tell me he loves me, and that I am the best mummy in the world! The biggest of smiles when I collect him from school, and listening to him tell me about his day, telling me he's missed me. The random cuddles and kisses, the pure love and happiness he spreads upon me!
