I thought I was done with finding excuses as to why I dislike our home so much, the main disadvantage is no garden for Spud, which is something I believe every child should have, but there's also the other thing's too, such as the buzzer intercom system, when each time one of the eight flat's in the block receives a visitor, all the other seven properties can hear their intercom too!
Then there's the communal hallway, where the younger generation (I know I am young, but I am a parent!) like to hang around, where the angry teenage football fan likes to kick his ball around, and where all the huge, mahoosive spider's lurk around. Then there's the space, I've lost count of the amount of times I've moaned about the room, well, the lack of room in this property!
Poor Spud couldn't swing a small soft teddy around if he wanted to, let alone a cat due to his bedroom being so small. I don't know what we are going to do when he becomes of a certain age and would like a double bed! Hopefully by then I could afford to move to a decent sized two bedroom house, yes a house, with a garden! The front room is so small, and the kitchen, do I really need to go there...
|Very old picture! It's just to show how small his room is!|
When all these top children experts go on about the importance of eating meals at a table, I feel like the worlds worse parent because we don't have a table. It's not because of finances, or laziness into buying one, it's just the lack of room for one! There is not one possible space for a table to go! When Spud was smaller, it wasn't so bad because I purchased him a small plastic table and chair set, now he's eight, he outgrew that about five years ago!
I'm a full time single mum, who work's part time making a living via my blog and my writing skills. I do a little bit of design work for close friends and family also, so having that 'personal' area to just go and escape to is quite important. I'm sure my mother doesn't want to receive a article I wrote for Sarah's business, and I'm sure Louise doesn't want to receive a layout which is suppose to be for Marie's website!
|The old laptop, with my next door neighbours then kitten!|
Unfortunately, there is no spare finances right now for a desk in my home. My personal working space use to be either on my bed, or on the sofa with a leopard print laptop tray my sister got me for Christmas 2012! I'd try to alternate between the two room's to release the pressure on my back, there's nothing worse than bad posture, until I come across a brain storm one day!
Sitting on my bed, with every pillow and cushion I owed behind me to support my back, I sat staring at the cabinet at the foot of my bed. It was, and still is, a not very pretty item of furniture, but it stores my clothes until I can find a nice chest of drawers within my budget. On top was just a few candles, and my jewellery holders. Add in a laptop, two favourite photo's, my note-cards, pencil case, and purse - just because you never know when a bargain may arise, I now have a cute little 'desk' space.
I don't have a stool or computer chair to sit on, so I sit on the end of the bed, which is actually worse then sitting against the wall, but it's pretty and it's in my favourite room of my home - my bedroom! Sometime's it's not about regretting the thing's we don't have in life, it's more about making the most of the thing's we do have!
I'd love to know about your personal workspace! Please do feel free to leave a comment below!
