The Mummy Tag

by Jada, February 18, 2014
Receiving a message from Helen from Mummy to the Max this evening informing me I had been tagged, led me to a post full of interesting facts, its called 'The Mummy Tag'.  After reading Helen's post, and smiling along to her loving answer's I agreed to accept the tag. So here goes, here's a little bit about me and Spud!

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum, or a Working Mum?
Well I actually fit into both of those categories, I am a working mum who works from home, so where does that put me? Smack bang in the middle - 50.00% maybe?

2. Would you have it any other way?
No, I have worked on and off for a few companies and retailers before, fortunately at them times, Spud was younger and cared for the majority of the time by family and extremely close friends. Spud also attended three private nurseries whilst I continued to study and worked, I hated being away from him. Now I get to work from home, working the hours that I choose, along with the days and times. I am the one who gives Spud his breakfast, lunch and dinner, the one who gives him his morning wash and his evening bath, I am the one who wakes up with him and goes to sleep with him, I am the one who takes him to school and who also collects him too. I love the way it works out for the both of us!

3. Do you co-sleep?
Not much any more but we did for the first 5-6 years of Spud's life. I openly admit I have attachment parenting, and cant stand to be away from Spud for too long - but how long is too long? When Spud would be in his own bedroom, I would panic, suffer with panic attacks and would end up surviving on minimum hours of sleep. I lost count of the number of times I slept on the hard floor, covered with just one layer of carpet in his room, just so I was close. I still panic loads now when he is in his own room!

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Well Spud's not a baby no more but it was and still is baby wipes, they truly are a mothers best friend!  You will always find a packet of wet-wipes in my bag and a few packets at home! I still buy a box of six, just like I did when he was a baby!

5. How many kids do you plan on having?
One! I have Spud who will be eight next month (how scary!), we have such a strong bond, I don't think I could break that with another baby. I always focused on gaining more for myself and Spud, so I continued higher education at college, and even planned to go uni - only for that to fall through at the last minute! I wanted to gain good qualifications and ensure a good job for the both of us. Having another baby whilst I was studying and on benefits would of been selfish of me. People accuse me of being selfish for not giving Spud a sibling, Spud does not want a sibling, I sometimes joke around with him and say I am having another baby and he gets so upset and angry, he's fine as a only child with all the love, attention and toys he will ever need!

6. Date night? How many nights per month?
Once every 4-8 weeks, to be fair, my Mum use to have Spud quite a lot before she moved to Cornwall, at least once a month, sometimes just for me to have a decent nights sleep. Now I can only ask my Dad or my sister, and my sister is just the same, she will only ask me or our Dad. Seeing as I am single, it's date nights with the girls, and most of the time we end up staying in at mine watching a few horrors with a takeaway and a game of Monopoly! Face-mask and chocolate too of course!

7. Your childs favourite show?
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, followed by Littlest Pet Shop, Garfield and then Horrid Henry!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
Muslin bibs? I never understood them and still don't now! Bibs all the way for me!

9. Your child’s favourite food?
Mango and Lasagne! I'm lucky with Spud because he likes all fruit and veg, like any other child though he is a fan of a sweet treat every now and again!

10. How many cars does your family have?
About a 1009, they're scattered in the toy corner, in Spud's bedroom and in his playroom!

Ohh you meant the real cars didn't you!? NONE!

11. Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after and now?
Luckily I didn't actually change in my pregnancy until I was 5 month's pregnant with Spud, after I ballooned, then lost and now I'm at my biggest :(

12. Dream holiday with your kids?
Disney Land - Spud and I are both huge, HUGE, Disney fans <3.
I'm actually trying to save up to get us there at some point this year! We are just waiting for his operation dates to come through before we can book anything!

13. Dream holiday without your kids?
I couldn't holiday without my prince, I'd be having nightmares, not dreaming!

14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
It's been the best adventure ever, and luckily a never ending one too! I got into trouble with the law a few times before I had Spud, disobeyed and argued with almost everyone stupidly. Having Spud showed me a new aspect to life, a new meaning and a love that is unconditional. My love for his has no beginning and has no end, he is my son, but also my best friend. I could not imagine sharing my life with anyone else, we have such a unbreakable bond! Spud was my little premature baby, who fought & battled, proved the medics wrong and generally continued to amaze not only me, but his daddy and the rest of our family too! He is my fighter baby!

15. Finish the sentence: 'It makes my heart melt to see …
How far Spud has come along, how well he has done considering we was told he would not do so much of the things he does do! Also when he tells me how much he loves me!

16. Where do you shop for your kids?
Next, Joules, H&M, Debenhams, The Disney Store, Office, JD Sports, Marks & Spencer, Sainsburys (TU), Morrisons (Nutmeg) and Asda (George).

17. Favourite makeup and skincare products?
I love a peel off face mask, I love to just put one on and lay down for 10 minutes, cucumber on the eyes and a sneaky cube of Galaxy for comfort! I don't wear make up much any more, I suppose you could say I've let myself go but I'd much rather prefer the extra time in bed then doing the full shahbam of dolling my face up!

18. Huggies or Pampers?
I was lucky to use both with Spud, I preferred Huggies just because the Disney characters! Spud was so tiny and small due to him being born weighing a very small 4lb, so Pampers tended to fall off of him where as Huggies gave a much more smug fit!

19. Have you always wanted kids?
Yes and lots of them too! Once Spud was born though, I think I knew from that moment it would just be him, I lost my heart that day, for every bit of love filled within it, was given to my precious boy. Becoming a parent is the most amazing and proudest achievement of my life, I get praised for charity events, education, skills, jobs, and most proudly - being a young mother that's so much unlike the rest!

20. Best part about being a mum?
Knowing, that no matter who will come and go in my lifetime, I will always have my baby boy! Hearing him tell me he loves me, and that I am the best mummy in the world! The biggest of smiles when I collect him from school, and listening to him tell me about his day, telling me he's missed me. The random cuddles and kisses, the pure love and happiness he spreads upon me!

Furby Boom Review

by Jada, February 15, 2014
A little while ago we was sent a Furby Boom to review and my gosh did it bring back some fond childhood memories of mine. I remember having a Furby when I was a young child, it was pale pink and I called her Blossom. I'd turn on Blossom more than once a day, annoying my Mum and siblings with it's Furby talk, and annoying them with my cries when it kept going to sleep on me! I never did remember what happened to my Furby, I think maybe a new phase came along and that was it, it was left in the bottom of the toy box to be forgotten about unfortunately!

Hearing the news a few years ago that Furby's was to make a come back annoyed me at first, I remembered the good memories but I also remembered the bad, that Furby's could die, not literally die because they are only toys, but in fact die until you reset them. I must of reset my Furby at least once a day on the last few weeks of play! I also remember being highly frustrated with the annoyance of not being able to pair my Furby up with my sister's! I'm sure I was not the only one who was not pleased of these adorable little interactive creatures!

Hoping Spud would not pick up on the Furby hype, I was quite relieved when the only Furby he questioned was a little mini plastic one from a McDonalds Happy Meal on a treat day. Then we went round a friend's house, then me and Spud had our first go on these new interactive wonder's, and that was it! My fond childhood memories come pouring back into my head, full of all the good memories, forgetting the bad, and a new fondness was growing on Spud!

Just like the original Furby's that was out years ago when I was a child, the Furby's can interact with each other, talk, are good shoulders to cry on and give excellent still cuddles. However, the Furby Boom is just something extremely different! Living life in today's world is full of technology, bus stops feed live information to you on LCD screens informing you of the next bus, and Furby Boom's get even more interactive by apps!

I admit I was a little sceptical at first, Spud is quite like me in his childhood mannerism, and I didn't want him to go through the emotions of losing a dying Furby! Not only can you cuddle, interact and pat your Furby, but by downloading the app from the Apple store on my iPhone 5, Spud and myself (shh don't tell him I play with it when he goes to bed!) can feed our Furby Bloom friend, check it's health by giving it a x-ray, take it to the toilet, bathe it and even help them with laying a virtual egg!

Spud has been getting on extremely well with the Furby Boom and I'm thinking of getting him a new one for his birthday so he can see how Furby's can interact with each other! As the whole Furby phase is new to Spud, his view on the Furby is all good. I on the other hand am still holding back for now, I am so worried about it dying, I sometimes even daydream about it! Thankfully though, for the whole time we've been trying this one out, it's been playing really well!

The Furby Boom comes in a variety of colours of all assortments and requires 4 AA batteries that are not included. The Furby Boom retails for around £59.99 and is available to purchase from Amazon, Asda, Argos, Toys R Us, Smyths Toys, John Lewis, The Entertainer and many more toy stockers.

Until next time,
Jada x

Spud and myself would like to thank Direct Line home insurance for sending us the Furby Boom for review!

Time for day 16's Moshling, don't forget to check back tomorrow for the big surprise!

Day 16 - Quincy
Quincy the Fraidy FuzzyFace

Quincy the Fraidy FuzzyFace is a jumpy, callow and anxious Moshling who is always being squished by falling pianos and getting frazzled by lighting! Well that's what he say's, but it's hard to believe because, Quincy is so anxious he never leaves the house, and when he does, he's wearing protective gloves, a hard hat and rubber boots! Quincy who has a nice name, loves reading The Daily Fail - everyone shout boo, and loves staying in - me and Spud too, but only on Sunday chill days! Quincy dislikes going out and toffee apples!?? Unfortunately, due to Quincy being so oddly strange, he makes it on to the Spud's least favourite list!

It's been somewhat of a crazzzzzzzy day in the UK today with all this boisterous weather! Luckily Spud has now broke up for the half term holidays! Wahoo, let the madness begin!

Day 15 - Mumbo
Mumbo the Punky Monkey

Mumbo is a boisterous, nuts and anarchic Punky Monkey who loves to keep his hairdo upright! Quite the graffiti artist, this mad Moshling doesn't think twice about scribbling on walls - a phase Spud went through, and thankfully not a long phase either! Mumbo can be seen swinging through trees yelling tuneless protect songs to burping up banana skins - yuk! Mumbo likes churned butter - well all we have in this household is Clover, so we're with you on that, and safety pins - he's such a weirdo! Mumbo dislikes hippies, why!? They are so cool dude and the system - me too! Spud's too young to understand, but I'm with Mumbo on that one!

Scientifically proven, there is just three more days until the reveal! We can't believe it's very nearly over, it's such a great campaign to be apart of! However, I know there are thousands of Moshi fans who can't wait to see what this big surprise is! Along with the release date too of course!

Day 14 - Prof. Heff
Prof. Heff the Molecular Chef

Prof. Heff the Molecular Chef is a ingenious, experimental and bumbling science mad cook! Never ask this particular chef for a simple snack but simple can not be done! OCD seems to spring to mind when you think of the personality of this moustache grower! Prof. Heff likes dissecting gooberries and foraging for fluffles, both myself and Spud are yet to forage for anything, along with dissecting too! Prof. Heff dislikes fast good and dirty surfaces - me too! Not sure I can agree with the fast one though, Spud does like the occasional Mcdonalds and KFC treat!

We are dawning closer and closer to that final reveal date now, Friday the 14th February, when I reveal a MASSIVE secret, and of course when all Series 9 Moshlings are released in stores nationwide! Who's excited!??

Day 13 - Posy
Posy the Forgetful Fairy

Posy the Forgetful Fairy is a puckish, dreamy and sweet Moshling who tends to flutter around in circles, trying to remember the way home! This little cutie is Spud's second favourite Moshling, maybe it's because she does magic spells and I have been magicking up a new Moshling every day for him since the reveal began! Posy likes brewing nectar and sewing daisy chains - ahh a childhood memory I'll never forget and a childhood memory Spud is yet to create! Posy dislikes glockenspiels, fly swats and her bad memory! Even the simplest things like leaving the bath running is hard for Posy to register!

After saying goodbye to our furry friend a few days ago, Spud has been quite upset and missing his pal. Luckily all of his Moshlings has played a big part of turning that frown upside down, especially today's Moshling!

Day 12 - Tessa
Tessa the Shooting Star

Tessa the Shooting Star is a enchanting, dreamy and radiant Moshling who are talked about by space fanatics near and far. Some believe these bright lighting stars, tumbled fell from space! Tessa unfortunately can only communicate by twinkling, does singing the twinkle song work I hear you ask!? That's the first thing Spud tried, Tessa just look on bemused, unclear of what ever noise Spud was making! Tessa likes goopernovas and moon dust, but dislikes space junk and being mistaken for Twistmas decorations! I just hope she doesn't find out what potential plans I had for her then!

I love the weekends, I love the little laying's me and Spud have and I love the fact we don't have to walk to the school early in the cold morning, instead we get to stay in bed till a decent time, nice and warm whilst the heating heats the home up! Today I never got my lay in, the party at the Moshling Mall ended so late - like 2-3am late they woke up all the Moshling birds, the treehouse branches have never looked so tired, maybe it's a secret mirror because that's exactly how I am after a night full of non sleep!

Day 11 - Chirpy
Chirpy the Chipper Chaffinch

Chirpy the Chipper Chaffinch is a jaunty, optimistic but overly cute little Moshling birdy who is always pecking away at trees! This cute little Chipper Chaffinch is always tapping away, leaving messages to other birdy friends in Mosh Code! Chirby can be found in cute brightly painted bird boxes and high up in Moshling
trees! Chirpy likes knocking on wood and flying south - to come and see his friend Spud who he met at the Moshi Mall! Chirpy dislikes jet engines & eleven secret herbs and spices, Spud did try to leave a Mosh Code to him and ask what ones, but we got no reply! Maybe we need to learn this Mosh Code ourselves, instead of relying on the Moshi translator!
