I'm one of those mum's who is very conscious about what Spud plays with, I learnt psychology at college and I know what is important for a child's play. WOW Toys are a company I really admire as a parent, I've never personally come across a toy that has been made by them which requires batteries, batteries in toys are a common thing, and I'm not moaning about batteries as without batteries some toys wouldn't be no where near as fantastic as what they are with thanks to being battery operated. In general though, putting the whole battery thing aside, there are so many things about WOW Toys that I love, requiring no batteries is just one of them!

WOW Toys very kindly sent Spud Mix 'n' Fix Mike to review and have very kindly put one aside for one of my lucky readers/visitors to win! Mix 'n' Fix Mike is a 3 piece set which comes with Mike the cement mixer, the driver Ricky and a road barrier, like most of WOW Toys you also get a cardboard background scene in the box which Spud really enjoys and its beneficial because it encourages imaginary play.

Mike also known as Mikey by his other WOW Toys friends (check out my review page here for other reviews on WOW Toys) makes cement mixing so much more fun. Mike's motorised mixer rotates his inner cement drum, tossing and turning all the imaginary mix of cement ingredients to make the best cement mixture around!

Mikes mixer visibly rotates as your child pushes him along, it was quite enjoyable for Spud to watch as he experimented with how quick and slow he could get the mixer to rotate.

The swirl at the back of Mike's mixture also rotates when you push Mike around!

Mike's developmental benefits include:
From 1½ years – Sensory stimulation and motor skill development
From 2 years – Discovery & learning
From 2½ years – Social interaction
From 3 years – Role-play & exploration

Children's imagination can run wild as Ricky drives Mike around to fix up the country's worse roads, or in mine and Spud's case the chips in our laminate flooring!

Ricky and the barrier are both free standing, Ricky can be used to drive Mike around or pop him up top, on top of Mike's roof and let him control Mike's machinery!

Mike's useful to know functions!
Friction-powered motor
Realistic engine sounds
Mixer rotates as you push along
Swirl at the back of mixer spins as you push along
Removable barrier

Mix 'n' Fix Mike is suitable for ages 1½ upwards, the packaging does say 1½-5 but I disagree as Spud likes his new set and has added it to his WOW Toys box filled with other WOW Toys sets.

Mix 'n' Fix Mike is available to buy with a suggested RRP of £21.99 from Argos, Tesco, Play.com, Amazon and smaller independent toy stores.
