Omzak, The Space Cat Warrior Book Review

in , , by Jada, November 30, 2012
Omzak is a children's book character, who adults have also taken to heart. He was created by Jaylen Grace, a freelance writer, author and international Life Coach, released in October 2012 Omzak is a great book for older children this Christmas.

''Hello. The name's Omzak, Captain Omzak. There are two things you should know about me:

1. I am THE best space cat warrior on Planet Catopia and in the whole universe.
2. I hate germs.

A while back I broke a peace treaty by getting into a fight with a stinking, scumbag ape-like Varian who had dared to set foot in our territory. Now, I'm being punished. They're sending me to England, Planet Earth. My mission? To blend in with those backward Earth cats, find myself a human so I can be their pet, and learn to be humble. And I just bet it's going to be filthy down there. Eew!

Join Captain Omzak on this intergalactic adventure, in which he meets a little girl called Jodie and becomes Earth's first feline martial arts coach. The race is on for Captain Omzak and his newfound Earth cat friends to solve a catnapping mystery and defeat a sinister enemy lurking in the woods!''

Omzak is an arrogant space cat warrior who's banished to Earth to learn how to become more humble. His punishment includes living amongst four legged domestic cats and finding someone to take him in as a pet. Not Omzak's idea of a good time - especially since to communicate with Earth cats - he has to remember the language of Meows. Even with Jodie, the girl whose pet he becomes, his insistence to prove he's the best continues and lands him into more and more hot water as the story unfolds.

When I agreed to review this book I was new on the blogging scene and was happy to accept any review I could get my hands on, I really should of done a bit of digging. The book itself is fab but it lacks in photo's and Leo loves picture books, the book is suited for older children in my opinion, I have kept the book and maybe in a year or two's time I will get the book back out and me and Spud will read the book together.

I will admit I have only read 1 chapter of this book and have not been able to read anymore, but with such fantastic reviews and feedback I have seen so far, I don't want my readers/visitors to miss out on such a great book. Fans of the book are now demanding a sequel to follow the first book. The Facebook fan page for the book has over 3000 fans and is growing more each day.

Available to buy with a suggested RRP of £10.99 from Amazon and many more small independent book shops.

To find out more about Omzak, check out his official website.

Until next time,

Jewelfone Review

in , , , by Jada, November 29, 2012

I was delighted when I was given the chance to review a pair of Jewelfone earphones, me, yes me! Although I love seeing Spud getting all these exciting reviewing opportunities, I must admit I was quite happy when one came along for me!

I was given the choice of 5 beautiful designs and decided to go with the Twilight ones.

Jewelfones are new on the scene, they are stylish high quality earphones that can be easily converted into a fashionable necklace. Specially designed to give you the flexibility that you need on the move. They are built in with magnet solution meaning that in certain places they clasp together and can very cleverly be turned into a necklace!

I got Spud to test these out for me strictly so I could take a few photo's, he isn't quite sure on how to use my phone just yet (so he couldn't take a photo of me) and he wanted to have a listen to some of his songs I have on my device.

The earphones are not only stylish they are comfortable too, inside the box I discovered a small bag with 2 sets of different sized rubber ear pieces, include them with the ones already on the earphones and you have a choice of 3 sizes to try out and decide which one is best for you.

Key Features
  • Wear as a necklace
  • Talk with the built in microphone
  • Answer/End button.
  • 3.5mm stereo plug.
  • Jewel headphones built-in magnet solution.
I love my new earphones they are very loud (if I want them to be that is), stylish, comfortable and unique!! I love uniqueness! My favourite part of the ear phones has to be the cute butterfly design on the ear pieces!

Jewelfones come in 5 different designs and are available to buy from the official Jewelfone website for £19.99.

To find out more about Jewelfone check out the official website.

Jewelfone have very kindly sent me 2 pairs of Jewelfones for 2 of my lucky readers to win a pair each, to enter the competition click here.

Until next time,

WOW Toys - Police Plane Pete Review

in , , by Jada, November 28, 2012

undefined
When WOW Toys offered Spud the chance to select a toy from a range of 3 to review, he quickly selected Police Plane Pete. Suitable for ages 1½-5 years I was a little worried Spud might find the toy too babyish, he didn't but instead loves his new Petey as he calls it.

WOW Toys have very kindly offered 1 of my lucky readers/visitors a chance to win a Police Plane Pete & Police Chase Charlie, click here to enter.

Inside the box was a Police plane called Pete and 2 removable figures; Office Foley and Buddy the dog.

Don't you just hate it when you can't find any new batteries, and you don't know what toy to steal some from? Police Plane Pete is strictly friction powered, and his propellers rotate without the need for any electricity which means no batteries!! Spud loves his new plane and I love the quietness of it!

The plane has a rotating tail to reveal 3 secret compartments as seen below. The secret compartments store some extremely important cargo, such as police equipment and their lunch!

 Developmental benefits:
From 1½ years – Sensory stimulation and motor skill development
From 2 years – Discovery & learning
From 2½ years – Social interaction
From 3 years – Role-play & exploration

Both me and Spud personally love this product, I love it because it doesn't require batteries, doesn't fall apart with loads of pieces and is really very quiet!

Available to buy with a suggested RRP of £10.99 from John Lewis, Debenhams, Amazon, Play and more small independent toy shops.

To find out more about WOW Toys, check out the official website.

Hiddengemz Boutique - Gloves Review

in , , by Jada, November 27, 2012
Every year, maybe even 3 or 4 times a year, towards the end of the year, I have to buy Spud new gloves, sometimes its because the ones from the year before are too small but most of the time its because Spud has accidentally lost them. When Hiddengemz Boutique, a new boutique style shop opening very soon in Cheshire asked me if I would like a item of theirs to do a review on, I fell in love with their gloves straight away! What's more, one of my lucky readers/visitors can enter a giveaway to win a pair of  Hiddengemz Boutique girls gloves here.

I chose the pair above for the purpose of this review. When Spud was a baby I loved these style of gloves, they are attached to a bit of string and makes it much harder for a baby to loose them! But Spud's not a baby no more, he's 6 years and 8 months (nearly!), he will always be my baby, but the shops don't understand that do they?

When I discovered these gloves (above) from Hiddengemz Boutique available in 6 different colours I fell in love, the hardest part was choosing which colour too choose! I could easily of asked for all 6 of them! In the end I settled with Spud's favourite colour, blue!

(At the time of this post going live I am yet to email Hiddengemz Boutique about me receiving the wrong colour blue!)

Spud loves his new gloves just as much as me, he can't put on slandered gloves alone, he gets his fingers in the wrong holes and ends up getting annoyed! He loves his new found independence, ''I can do my gloves all by myself'' he tells me every day!

What did worry me whilst I was waiting for the gloves is the fact that the gloves come in 1 size, suitable for 7-12 year old's I worried the gloves would be too big and Spud would feel the cold if they kept rolling down or falling off easily. I didn't have to worry though the elastic works wonders!

The gloves themselves are quite thick and I just love the design and colours, they are not too big and not to small. Normally when Spud wears gloves his hands get clammy, we have not had this problem with this gloves, but then again it has been freezing cold! Only time can tell I suppose.

Another great thing is the fact they come on string so I can leave them in Spud's coat ready to pop on whenever we go out!

What really peeves me off with being a teenage parent is the fact that people think my life is ruined. Why do people think that? I went to college after I had Spud, I got my qualifications, I have worked with just a one year gap and I am ready to go to university but right now that's not something I want to do. I watched a program on Reality TV I can't remember the name but it featured two girls, one aged 14 and one aged 16 who really wanted to have babies. The camera's followed these girls around and tried to convince them not to become a teenage parent statistic. They showed them a day of being a parent and a day of not being a parent and what you can do if your not a parent.

The program stated 40% of teenage parents don't have qualifications and 70% drop out of college or training courses. BUT they didn't mention the rest of the nation did they, what about the non teenage parents or the older parents, what's the statistics for them? Now I am NOT encouraging teenage parenting by no means. I love Spud I wouldn't change my life for the world, I swapped late night clubbing for late night baby feeds, I swapped high heels for comfy shoes to do the school runs in, I swapped the latest fashion bag for a changing bag, however I did go to college like planned before I even knew I was pregnant and I worked and still do work. Being a teenage parent for me was not hard, I was fit and could run after my bouncing toddler, I got the sleep I needed, I could go on and on and on. What I am trying to get at is why did this program say ''if you become a teenage parent your life will be hard''? Why not leave out the teenage part and just say ''if you become a parent your life will be hard''?

Although I was with Spud's father until I was 18, I may as well of been a single parent. I done everything by my self, in 2 and a half years, he done 4 night feeds and looked after Spud once whilst I went to the fair with my cousin. Adults go to the fair and get baby sitters too, adults go to the cinema and get baby sitters, adults go to diet clubs, wine nights, book clubs and get baby sitters for them nights too. Why is it terrible if a 15 year old girl goes to the fair and leaves her son with his father? It could of been my parents who looked after Spud, it wouldn't of mattered though, I still would of been judged because I wasn't at home with my baby, teenage parent's are not entitled to breaks are they? Because if we do, then the whole world stares, maybe not directly, maybe behind a computer screen, but they think we've committed a serious crime, we're not aloud breaks, we're teenage parents!

That's the problem these days, not just these days as I am fully aware from various sources that teenage pregnancy was 100 million times harder say 40+ years ago. But we are now living in the 20th century, what's wrong with people? I can shout all day from the roof tops, I could hire a plane to show off a banner, I could write all year stating not all teenage parents are the same but it won't matter, people will still judge.

The thing is, so many people don't think about the people that hit the headlines, the ones that get noticed the most. The adults, the above 25s who have failed their children. Poor Baby P's mother for example, the McCanns (who left their children alone), Shannon Matthews mother (who kidnapped her own daughter), the countless amount of horrid parents who have abused their children. I can't recall one major story of a teenage mother doing wrong to her child, just getting labelled because of the age she become a mother at.

Were not all the same you know, me and you, you and her, her and him, him and she, we and them, I and they. We are all different, not one person in this world shares the same hand prints or DNA, we don't share the same bodies nor personalities. Personalities clash and so do people, I will never understand people who judge books by their covers, I know other teenage parents, some in my eyes should never of had their children and should not be aloud their children then I know older parents in the same boat too. I don't go around shouting about how older parents are bad do I?

I am a unique young mummy, I love my Spud and although I may not drive just yet because I'd rather spend my money on him or something that benefits the both of us then going out drinking and putting gosh knows what up my nose or into my body. Do you see I just stereo typed clubbers, do all clubbers drink and take drugs!? NO just like not all teenage parents are bad, just like not all parents no matter how old or YOUNG they may be are bad!

Don't think for one minute I would ever change my life, this is what God has blessed me with and what a very great blessing it is. I am lucky, I have a healthy beautiful little boy who receives everything he needs from me, I have a home we live in, which is warm that never runs out of gas, we have electricity which is always running, we have clean running water, a TV license so we can watch TV (YES my son watches TV, now judge me for that, I am past caring =D), we have food in the fridge/freezer and the cupboards, we have a cooker, a washing machine and a tumble dryer, we have our own rooms, our own beds, a furnished property, furnished by ME, I have qualifications, I work, I don't drive. Most importantly Spud is looked after, cared for, shown attention and affection and loved dearly.

I am unique young mummy, my rant is now over. I could rant again because I was stereo typed today, by a shopping centre worker who asked my brother's and sisters what they done for a living and then turned to me and said what would you like to do? Because I am young does that mean I don't work? Get a life!!

That's all for now, until next time,

Jada x
Another Christmas post I know I must be boring you but how else can I blab about all the great products that are either out already or due to be released very soon! When MAM gave Baby Boo the opportunity to review some Christmas soothers for them, my sister was quick to say yes! My sister loves Christmas, her whole family gets kitted out in Christmas jumpers, and Christmas themed hats and socks so I just knew she was going to love the soothers, we just had to see how Baby Boo would take to them.

We was sent a packet of 2 festive soothers suitable for the ages of 6months + we got these back in August when Baby Boo was 14 months old. The packet contained two different designs with 2 different colours; red and white. There was 1 Christmas seal soother and 1 snowflake soother.

Baby Boo had never had MAM soothers before so at first was trying to figure out what his Mummy and Auntie was doing, first giving him a dummy he wasn't used too and then to make matters more weird, I started taking pictures of him too!

After 10 minutes of sussing out his new dummies he finally settled for the white one, not that he knew any difference mind you! Unfortunatley he wouldn't settle with me taking photo's of him though, a real mummies boy who couldn't take his eyes off his mummy, aww. The soothers have been put away and are waiting for the advent season to start to make their come back!

MAM also have another pack of 2 Christmas style soothers for sale, the polar bear and penguin. Again they are sold in packs of 2.

Available to buy with a suggested RRP of £4.58 from Boots and the online MAM Shop.

To find out more about MAM UK, check out their official website.

Until next time,
